I started my legal career in a small, thriving firm of 9 lawyers specializing in labour and employment law. It was exciting to be directly involved!

I and the other young lawyers gained great experience and excellent coaching as the ‘feet on the ground’ who carried out the tactics based on the strategic advice developed by the client and principal lawyer. The more you learned, the more you got to do. You worked with your mentors. You gained

The practice grew. Specialties developed. Groups formed to concentrate on industry specifics. Each group really knew its own stuff but less and less about what the other groups did.

The necessity of looking after those specialty details took away from looking at the bigger picture and strategies. Over time, the business of law began to overwhelm the practice of law. In my estimation, to the detriment of the clients.

Emstrata Law in 2017 is conceived to deliver clients those bigger pictures and strategies with a new model – an alliance of experts – crafted for the rapidly changing realities of today and tomorrow.
